It's hard being a man in the world today. Being held accountable for a legacy that is not our own making. Although 'it's a man's world' is a commonly held belief, and may indeed be true, that doesn't mean that it is 'easy' being a man. Masculinity in the modern age is a tricky one. Although society imprints masculine expectations on us from a young age (I used to hear "Are you a man or are you a mouse?", and "cowboys don't cry" when I was a young boy, society also chides men for being masculine and 'the patriarcy'. The world is changing and is nowhere near as patriarchal as it has been in the past, but is there is still a place for masculinity, just not so much of the toxic kind?
